How verification works

This page explains what a FillRail badge does and doesn't establish, in plain terms. Every educator's published record links to a version of it generated from their own configuration.

How it works

Where the numbers come from

The educator connects the brokerage account they trade for the community, through a read-only connection authorized at the broker's own login. FillRail never holds the credentials. Each execution is read through that connection and written as a row, with the broker's own timestamp as the time of record. Nothing in the table is typed by a person.

Write-only, on fill and exit

The record updates on exactly two events: a fill and an exit. Each one writes a new row. Nothing already written is ever edited or overwritten, and there's no code path to do either. There's no backfill either: nothing can be added for a date before the connection date, except as clearly labelled self-reported history (below).

A verified account publishes every trade in it. There's no per-trade toggle and no featured-trades mode. An educator picks which accounts to connect, not which trades in them get shown.

Two kinds of rows

Rows written from the broker are broker-confirmed. Rows carried over from an educator's prior spreadsheet are self-reported. They're visibly distinct, sorted below the broker-confirmed rows, and never blended into a headline number without saying so next to it.

The timestamp

Every record and badge shows when FillRail last confirmed the account's fills against the broker. The educator can't hide or edit that timestamp, and a stale connection greys the badge out automatically. A hand-kept sheet can claim almost any figure, just not "last confirmed four minutes ago, continuously."

Examples. The figures are illustrative, not any educator's results.

Contract normalization

Some educators publish figures at one standard contract per trade. Where they do, it applies to the whole account, is stated in plain words on the record, and can't be switched on or off trade by trade. Win rate and profit factor are identical either way; only dollar figures scale.

Small samples

A ratio resting on fewer than five losing trades is flagged, with the loss count given equal visual weight. Zero losing trades shows as not applicable, never as infinity. Nothing is annualized, extrapolated, or projected.

Limits and enforcement

What this does not prove

Broker data proves a trade happened, in that account, at that price and time. It doesn't prove the trade was called before it was entered, see an account that isn't connected, or reach back before the connection date. FillRail's verification makes none of those three claims. Where an educator originates an alert inside FillRail, the record shows the alert's timestamp beside the fill's, but only for that row, and not retroactively.

Suspension and revocation

A badge suspends automatically the moment a broker connection drops or an account stops syncing. It's revoked, and the revocation published, if an educator connects an account they don't control, passes off self-reported rows as broker-confirmed, or uses the badge or FillRail's name to imply an endorsement that doesn't exist. Revocations are listed publicly.

Commercial relationship

The educator pays FillRail; we're the attesting party and we're compensated by the party we attest for, stated here rather than left for you to find. No broker is paid on volume, reviews, or endorses any record. "Broker-confirmed" means confirmed from the broker's data, not by the broker.
